The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) at UC San Diego was founded in 2002 by five culturally based organizations with the purpose of standing united as one strong voice dedicated to representing our diverse interests and values. The purpose of the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is to provide a council for Greek organizations that contribute specifically to diversity and inclusion on RIT campus. All member organizations stress their commitment to the University and Charlottesville communities. Greek life at UW is made up of four Greek Councils: Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Association, National Panhellenic Association, and Multicultural Greek Council (MGC). We aim to provide a united governing body for these underrepresented cultural organizations on campus. Meet the Greeks Council Specific Information. The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is a self-governing student organization that provides guidelines and support to its culturally based member organizations. The National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC) is an umbrella council for a coalition of Multicultural Greek-letter organizations (MGLOs) established in 1998. The Multicultural Greek Council has been recognized for the past two years at the Annual Fraternal Leadership and Values Conference as being the top MGC community in its region. Yet, through numerous social calendar events throughout the year, MGC organizations strive to promote an active campus presence while demonstrating the power of unity among multicultural Greeks with the wider Greek and UW community. They participate in many service and fund-raising endeavors such as Habitat for Humanity, SPAN, Race for the Cure, American Red Cross, and Youth and Family Services. Our council governs multicultural fraternities and sororities that represent Latinx, Asian, and LGBTQ+ communities, yet are inclusive of people of all cultural identities. In the years since the establishment of the council, MGC is now home to twelve active Greek organizations that span across Asian, Latinx, and progressive interests. The Multicultural Greek Council at Oklahoma State University was established to meet the needs of ethnic fraternities and sororities that were not being met by the fraternity and sorority community prior to its establishment.
